Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between the Classic Plan and Lifestage Plans?
The Classic Plan was the only membership plan available to pet parents up until 27th August 2024. This program, run and operated by Healthy Pets Plus Ltd, offered a set range of benefits, irrespective of the age of the pet.
The Lifestage Plans, run and operated by Greencross Operations Pty Ltd, are available from the 27th August 2024 and were developed to help meet the needs of canine and feline pets based on their age. These plans recognise that a pet’s health needs evolve as they age and were developed with tailored benefits to support pets like yours at every life stage.
For a full list of member benefits and exclusions see:
As always, for medical advice and care specific to your canine and feline pets’ needs, please speak with a veterinarian.
Which Lifestage Plan is right for my pet?
Generally, our Puppy & Kitten Plan is suitable for puppies and kittens under one year old; our Adult Plan is suitable for dogs aged 1-8 years old or cats aged 1-10 years old; and our Senior Plan is suitable for dogs aged over 8 years and cats aged over 10 years. This is because as your pet ages, their health-based needs change. For example, most dogs and cats are recommended to be desexed within their first year of age, and therefore our Puppy & Kitten plan offers a discount off your pet’s desexing.
If you are unsure which plan is right for your pet, speak with a vet at your local Greencross Vets clinic at your pet’s next appointment.
Is Healthy Pets Plus insurance?
No, Healthy Pets Plus is not insurance, it is a 12 month membership for proactive and preventative pet care. As a member, your pet will receive extensive benefits such as all standard vet consultations and annual vaccinations at Greencross Vets, emergency consultations at participating locations across the Animal Referral & Emergency Network, and Petbarn Perks! Insurance products typically do not cover these wellness or preventative care costs, however, it is recommended that clients research insurance products.
Can I use my pet’s membership benefits at any veterinary clinic/pet store?
No. Healthy Pets Plus membership benefits can only be redeemed at Greencross Vets, participating locations across the Animal Referral & Emergency Network, and at all Petbarn stores.
Is there any waiting period before I can bring my pet in?
There is no waiting period with Healthy Pets Plus – you can redeem your benefits in-clinic immediately once you sign up to the program. Please ensure you enter and keep your payment details up to date in order to redeem your benefits.
What payment options are available?
Memberships cost $600 (for the Puppy & Kitten or Adult Plans) or $660 (for the Senior Plan) which can be paid across fortnightly, monthly or annual payments. All Healthy Pets Plus memberships are for 12 months, and we offer fortnightly, monthly or upfront annual payment options. You’ll receive reminders when your pet’s membership is due for yearly renewal, which will renew automatically unless discontinued.
Payments can be made by credit card or direct debit.
Credit card payment details can be added or updated by signing into the Healthy Pets Plus Billing Portal here.
Direct debit payments can be set up or updated by contacting our Healthy Pets Plus Customer Service team on 1800 738 775.
Is there a discount if I have more than one pet?
Yes! Additional pets in your household can receive 10% off their membership price. To sign up an additional pet, please refer to the above question on instructions for how to join. Please use the same email address to sign up your additional household pet to receive your discount.
Is there a cooling off period?
We have a one month cooling off period for memberships. Cooling off periods allow clients to make a decision if the program is right for them and their pet. If you decide to cancel your pet’s membership during the cooling off period, we will refund any plan payments you have made, however you may be required to make a payment to us depending on the value of benefits you redeemed during the cooling off period – see clause 8.2 of our T&Cs for further details. Contact our Healthy Pets Plus Customer Service team on 1800 738 775 for support.

*Healthy Pets Plus Benefits must not be abused, including in ways that are not for the benefit of the pet covered by the membership. See Healthy Pets Plus Terms & Conditions.

What are the Annual Wellness Screenings and Seniors Wellness Screenings included in some plans?
Our vets recommend annual testing to better understand your pet’s health and stay ahead of any potential concerns. Annual tests that are recommended include blood tests, urine tests, faecal tests and certain parasitic tests.
All Healthy Pets Plus plans include the Annual Wellness Screenings benefit, which includes one each of: a diagnostic blood test, urine test, parasite faecal exam and either a heartworm test (dogs only) or an FIV test (cats only). Your pet can have these done at any time, or tests such as the blood test may be recommended pre-surgery, to ensure your pet is healthy for their procedure.
For senior pets, identifying early signs of disease is particularly important. Our vets recommend twice yearly wellness tests, as well as further types of tests to support your pet. That’s why our Senior Plan also includes one each of a T4 thyroid test and a blood pressure test, as well as an additional diagnostic blood test and urine test (these are in addition to your Annual Wellness Screening benefit).
Please speak with your vet at your local Greencross Vets clinic for further information.
As always, for medical advice and care specific to your canine and feline pets’ needs, please speak with a veterinarian.
What is the difference between vet administered prevention and other preventative products?
Vet administered heartworm injectable prevention, and flea and tick injectable prevention, refers to dosages of the relevant prevention provided by a vet in-clinic on a recommended schedule.
The recommended heartworm injectable schedule for puppies is generally two initial doses, and then an annual booster after that, whilst adult dogs generally require only an annual heartworm injectable dosage.
The recommended flea and tick injectable schedule is an annual dosage for adult dogs. As of July 2024, there is no available flea and tick injectable prevention for puppies under the age of 6 months. A discount on these services is available to dog members on all Lifestage Plans. Check your plan for details.
Other preventative products available in-clinic include monthly chews or spot on treatments that you can purchase and administer to your pet at home. This range of products have been developed to prevent parasites such as fleas, ticks, intestinal worms and heartworm.
All plans include 20% off flea, tick and worm preventative products purchased in-clinic at Greencross Vets*. Different products provide different types of protection – for further information, speak with your local Greencross Vets.
*Savings based on prices for non-Healthy Pets Plus members and cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer or discount unless stated otherwise.
